i couldn't be more in the christmas spirit since the awesome event that went on in downtown lansing last night. thanks to janee, i found out about this cool thing lansing does called "silver bells in the city". there was an "electrical" parade with lots of "floats" and marching bands and of course, santa at the end. unfortunately, i did not know there was an actual santa that daphne could have visitied, i guess we missed that one. we'll have to take daphne some other time. but at the end of the parade, everyone goes in front of the capitol where they light the giant christmas tree, everyone cheers, and then they do an awesome show of fireworks.
i was also amazed at how many of the floats emphasized "christmas" and not just the holidays. there were many natavity scene floats and a lot that said "merry christmas" and were playing christmas songs. anyway, daphne just LOVED every minute of it. john had her on his shoulders almost the whole time so she could get a good look. we had a pretty good spot anyway, and we also had a good view of the lighting of the tree. i couldn't believe how many people were there. it was just so awesome. i was so much into the christmas spirit during this whole event.
it was pretty chilly, and daphne was happy to cuddle up next to us to stay warm. after wards, we WALKED home- which was awesome seeing how many people had to drive downtown- and warmed up with HOT CHOCOLATE! we couldn't justify drinking some without giving some to daphne too, so we put some in a sippy cup for her which she thoroughly enjoyed.

here is a girl in the parade with a mullet

daphne got the hang of waving to all the floats
i thought this "air plane" with the ww1 german symbol was pretty funny

here is the giant christmas tree accompanied with fireworks at the capitol building

daphne loved the warm hot chocolate when we got home
some funny things about daphne lately- she has a tendancy to get into the pantry and get out her tupperware containers full of snacks. if she manages to get them open, they spill all over the floor. the other day she opened her container full of fruit loops, and as i was picking them up trying to put them back in, daphne was picking them up and trying to eat them as fast as she could. i couldn't help but to stop and laugh. she had a huge mouth full of fruit loops. also, i think john taught our daughter this, but whenever we change a poopy diaper of hers she exclaims "eeeewww poo poo!". she also does it when i change emi's diaper. i find this very funny.
well, that is all for now. even though i try to not play christmas music til after thanksgiving (which i cannot believe is less than a week away!) i have found myself playing it already. so, my christmas season has already began! yay!

It looks like you guys had a great time! We didn't stay long enough for the tree lighting and fireworks but it looks awesome, you got some great pictures!
That looks like soooo much fun!!! It'd be great to have access to stuff like that. Daphne's growing up sooo much!!! Her jacket sure is cute.
I know, I'm also trying so hard not to bust out my Christmas music yet...
